Manuel Farinha came over to Canada from Portugal in 1958. He quickly realized how promising the land was here and that he would be able to start a life for him and his family. Wife Felicidade and daughter Fernanda (Maria) joined him in 1959 in Neramata BC where he worked as a farm laborer. In September of 1966 Manuel and Felicidade welcomed son Alfredo (Fred) and later that year bought 20 acres in Osoyoos on 45th street.. . Alex and Maria got married in 1974 and took over Alex's mothers 10 acres on the south side of town. They welcomed first born Christopher, December of 1975. And in September of 1980 they gave birth to daughter Janine.. . Fred and Pam got married in 1987 and gave birth to their first daughter Racyne April of 1988. Two years later they welcomed second daughter Kayla September of 1990. They also took over the family business that year.. . With many years of competing with other farmers and the importing of fruits, Fred and Alex decided to change their orchards over to vineyards. With the dream of one day building a winery.. . Manuel Farinha passed away on September 1st 2009. It is because of his determination to succeed and to provide for his family that we are able to start this new chapter in our lives and start a new family business.. .
